You've probably seen veneers that don't look right.

Maybe on someone you know. Maybe online. Teeth that are too white, too straight, too uniform.

They look like veneers and that's exactly what you don't want.

Too white, too perfect

Real teeth aren't one flat shade. If veneers don't have the subtle colour variation of natural enamel, they look like costume teeth.

Bulky and all the same

Factory-made veneers use one shape for everyone. The result is teeth that feel thick and look stamped out, because they were.

A dark line at the gum

When veneers aren't properly margined or the material isn't right, a grey or dark line shows up at the gumline within a few years.

Too much tooth removed

Some approaches file teeth down aggressively. That means more sensitivity, weaker structure, and fewer options if you ever need to redo them.

Veneers are a design problem. I treat them that way.

When teeth have been wearing for years, the bite has shifted. The proportions have changed. The gum line may have moved. You can't just paste porcelain over that and expect it to hold up. So I start with the bite.

  • I start with the bite, not the colour chart.

I look at how your teeth meet, where the wear is happening, and why. Then I design the veneers around what your mouth actually needs.

  • You see it before I make it permanent.

I mock up the design and preview it with you. We look at it together, talk about what you'd change, and adjust. Then I send the final design to my ceramist.

  • Each tooth is made by hand.

Hand-layered porcelain with the kind of translucency, texture, and colour variation you see in real enamel. The kind of detail that makes people not notice your veneers at all.

How do I design a smile?

How I design your smile before we even start?

Two ways to do veneers.

Why patients choose Dr Vicky Ho

For over 30 years, I've helped patients in Perth move beyond temporary fixes to achieve personalised smile design.

My approach combines advanced cosmetic principles with a deep understanding of function and bite, so results look good and last. I take a conservative path where possible, and plan every case for long-term durability.

This matters most for patients with worn or broken-down teeth, where cosmetic work also needs to restore strength.

How does the procedure work?

Step 1:
Consult - to find out your goals and aspirations for your new smile and diagnose your bite, current smile and health of your teeth. Treatment options and costs will be discussed here.

Step 2:
Smile design - we take scans and photos of your teeth so that we can design your new smile with you. We take in to consideration the shapes that suit your face, lips and flow of your smile, and determine the characteristics that you want to have to make it uniquely you, and then we create a mock up for you to view

Step 3:

Once you are happy with the mock up, we will then prepare your teeth for veneers, (if preps are needed) and place the mock ups as your temporary trial smile. You get to try out your new smile for a few weeks before the final porcelain is made.

Step 4:

When you have agreed the temporaries are the right size, colour and shape you like for your new smile, then the final porcelain veneers are constructed and cemented. You will be 100% sure of what you are getting all the way to the finish.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book a complimentary consultation by clicking here or by calling 0893852000. The consultation is a chance to discuss your concerns, assess suitability, and understand what options may be appropriate for your smile. There is no obligation to proceed.

What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin coverings that your dentist will place over your existing teeth to change the shape, colour, size or alignment of your teeth.

They require a lot less preparation of your existing than crowns and far less invasive than dental implants.

In some cases no preparation of teeth is needed at all.

They are handmade in our laboratory and bonded on your teeth .

Who are porcelain veneers for?

Porcelain veneers are ideal for people who want to drastically change the appearance of their teeth but whose teeth are not damaged enough to require dental crowns. They can repair cracks, chips, and broken teeth and make your teeth appear straighter and whiter.

Composite vs. Porcelain Veneers

While both composite and porcelain veneers are placed on your existing teeth, they are somewhat different. Porcelain veneers are a nonreversible, long-term solution to damaged teeth, whereas composite veneers are reversible and don’t require as much prep. While both are designed to match your existing teeth, porcelain tends to look more natural and last longer, though it is a bit more expensive.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

They typically last between 10 and 20 years depending on how you care for them. You need to brush and floss daily like regular teeth. They can break under pressure. Never use your teeth to rip plastic, chew on pins or tear things with your teeth. You should also wear a night guard to prevent chipping from bruxism or night grinding .

Will veneers damage my natural teeth?

Veneers do involve some alteration of the tooth surface, but the amount depends on your individual case.
Part of the planning process is assessing how much preparation is appropriate and whether veneers are suitable at all. Preserving tooth structure is always a priority. In some cases, we do not have to touch the enamel at all. Not all cases involve enamel preparation.

Benefits of porcelain dental veneers

Porcelain veneers are ideal for people seeking a minimally invasive cosmetic solution to unattractive teeth and offer many benefits. They can significantly improve the appearance of teeth and are used to repair cracks, chips, discolouration, and more.

Porcelain veneers also look and feel like your natural teeth and require minimal prep for your existing tooth. Unlike dental implants, they allow you to leave the root structure intact. If you have any additional questions or want to learn more about the procedure, feel free to reach out to our staff, and we will be happy to answer any questions.

Are veneers painful?

Most patients are surprised by how manageable the process is. Generally veneers are not painful during and after treatment because very minimal tooth is removed. No down time is required. However if you have dental anxiety, we offer sedation options for and dental treatment.
Any discomfort varies from person to person and is discussed beforehand so you know what to expect. Care is taken to ensure comfort throughout each stage of treatment.

Will veneers look natural?

They can when translucency, shape, texture, and proportions are carefully designed.
Veneers that look artificial usually result from rushed planning or generic designs rather than the veneers themselves.

How much do porcelain veneers cost?

At Smile Design Studio, we want to make porcelain veneers accessible on a wide range of budgets. We offer fair pricing on all our procedures and provide easy financing so you can get the treatment you need.

How many teeth do I need veneers on?

There is no set number.
It depends on how many teeth show when you smile, what you want to change, and how much blending is required for a natural result. Some cases involve one tooth, others involve more.

Do veneers stain over time?

Porcelain veneers are more stain-resistant than natural enamel.
However, good oral hygiene and regular dental care are still important for long-term maintenance.

What if I need to reschedule?

No stress at all. Just let us know at least 24 hours ahead and we'll rebook you free of charge.

If we don't hear from you and you miss your visit, the free consultation will be forfeited. You're welcome to rebook, but a $100 booking fee will apply to secure your next spot. That $100 comes off your treatment cost if you go ahead, so nothing goes to waste.
